Live from Mercury Lounge: Tovar's Honkytonk Tuesday (streaming event)

To mark the release of his new album “Another Time, Another Place,” Jacob Tovar will air a recent session of his weekly “Honkytonk Tuesday” recorded live at Mercury Lounge. The show, presented by Ida Red, streams for free on June 16 at 7pm on facebook.com/JacobTovarRootsCountry, Mercury Lounge YouTube and Ida Red YouTube.

The streaming concert features artists who recorded on the album and regularly play Tovar’s Honkytonk Tuesdays at Mercury Lounge, including Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, John Fullbright (keys, harmonies), Cooper Waugh (lead guitar), Paul Wilkes (upright bass), Roger Ray (pedal steel) and Jake Lynn (drums).

The live-recorded concert is a rollicking ride through a bustling night at Tovar’s dive bar residency, complete with his off-the-cuff commentary.  The set list includes songs from the new album like crowd-favorite “Just by Myself,” a Greg Brown tune with a unique Tovar-inspired arrangement, as well as singles “I Felt Love,” co-written by Ray and Fullbright, and “Crystal,” a favorite from his music scene mentor, the late Tom Skinner.  Tovar’s originals on the new record that are part of the concert include “Josh’s Song” inspired by his late brother, “Three Good Reasons,” a toe-tapper about sultry summer and heartbreak that could drive anyone out of Tulsa, and “One Track Minded Baby,“ about his special relationship with his only daughter.

“Another Time, Another Place”, released on May 14th, was recorded in downtown Tulsa at 3CG Studios and was produced and mixed by Isaac Hanson and engineered and mixed by Wes Sharon, both Grammy Nominees.  “The first time I heard Jacob sing I fell in love with his voice and I immediately wanted to make a record with him,” said Hanson. “His band is wold class and I could not be more proud of the performances and talents captured on this album. "Another Time, Another Place” is the country record I never knew I needed to make!"

Ida Red will be selling an exclusive “Tovar” t-shirt in their Brookside and Downtown Tulsa stores online  starting June 11th. Tovar will perform in-store at Ida Red on Brookside on Sunday, June 13th at noon.
